How PumpPilot UK uses your data.
This draft Privacy Policy explains how PumpPilot UK may collect, use, store, and protect information when you browse fuel prices, save places, add vehicles, or create alerts in the app.
1. Who we are
PumpPilot UK, also referred to as PumpPilot in this policy, is a UK fuel-price comparison and alert service.

Data controller / business details: [INSERT LEGAL ENTITY OR SOLE TRADER DETAILS IF APPLICABLE]
2. What data we collect
Depending on how you use PumpPilot, we may collect and store:
- account data such as your name, email address, sign-in provider, and account identifiers
- saved places such as Home, Work, and custom places you choose to store
- vehicle data such as vehicle name, fuel type, tank size, consumption assumptions, preferred fill amount, and route preferences
- alert data such as station alerts, area alerts, thresholds, and notification preferences
- location data when you give the app permission to use your current or approximate location
- station and app interaction data needed to show nearby prices, recommendations, history, and your recent alert activity
- push notification identifiers or device tokens if you enable push alerts
- support messages or contact details you send if you contact us
- operational diagnostics such as errors, performance events, and reliability logs
3. How we use data
We use data to:
- show nearby stations and fuel prices
- compare stations and support recommendations
- save preferences across your devices
- manage alerts and deliver notifications
- improve reliability and diagnose issues
- prevent abuse and help keep accounts secure
- support future account and premium-style features
4. Location
Location is permission-based. If you allow location access, PumpPilot can use your current or approximate location to show nearby stations and prices.
You can still browse PumpPilot without granting location access, but nearby features may be less accurate or may rely on saved places instead.
PumpPilot does not claim to use continuous background live tracking unless that is clearly introduced in a future update.
5. Notifications
Push notifications require your permission. If you create alerts, PumpPilot may send in-app or device notifications when matching prices or price changes are found.
You can change alert and notification settings in the app at any time.
6. Sharing and processors
PumpPilot may rely on service providers that help us run the app, such as:
- hosting and backend infrastructure providers
- authentication providers such as Firebase or Google
- push notification services such as Firebase Cloud Messaging
- limited diagnostics or security tools, if used to keep the service reliable and safe
We may also share information where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the security and integrity of the service.

7. UK GDPR legal bases
We may rely on one or more of the following legal bases under UK GDPR:
- contract, where data is needed to provide account, alerts, saved places, vehicles, and app features you request
- consent, where you grant location permission or push notification permission
- legitimate interests, for diagnostics, security, abuse prevention, and service improvement
- legal obligation, where we are required to do so by law
8. Retention
We generally keep account data while your account remains active. Saved places, vehicles, routes, and alerts are kept until you delete them or your account is deleted.
Operational and diagnostic logs are typically kept for a limited period so we can monitor reliability and investigate issues: [INSERT RETENTION PERIOD]
If exact retention periods are not final, we will keep data only for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security.
9. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, and withdrawal of consent where consent is the basis used.
To make a privacy request, contact: [INSERT CONTACT EMAIL]
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been handled unlawfully.

PumpPilot is not intended for children under 13 or under any higher minimum age that applies to the service in practice.
If the intended age range changes, update this section: [CONFIRM TARGET MINIMUM AGE]
